A+ for Trello Online Project Collaboration Tool (Progress Board)

Product Name:  Trello by Fog Creek Software

Web Address:   https://trello.com

  •  Ease of use: A+
  • Versatility: A
  • Cost: A+

Product Summary

I love the “progress board.” What a great way to keep User Stories or deliverables visible to the project team as they actively work a sprint. Scrum or Kanban projects have these as wall or board covered in yellow stickies or note cards. Trello.com provides online collaboration with a virtual project board with “cards” to represent work. This is perfect for the virtual Agile or Kanban team. The features can easily be adapted for a large number of uses such as tracking household chores. Trello supplies a number of features that make this an easy to use tool. Set up and user administration is a breeze, as easy as typing a title or email address.

Pros:

  • Easy set up and administration
  • All purpose, customizable columns
  • Feature rich “cards”
  • Upload attachments with preview on card
  • Customized checklist
  • Assign tasks as easy as entering an email address
  • Complete tracking of changes made to card and by whom
  • Color coded, customizable labels

Cons:

  • Does not integrate with other tools such as Team Foundation Server or MS Project (but I’m not complaining for the price and the ease of entering information!)
